  1. Study with Keratinocyte Progenitor Cells

  2. Use of a Novel Progenitor Cell Targeting (PCT) Technology • Development of a fully defined cell culture medium, designed to mimic the physical environment of the in vivo stem cell niche • This new PCT medium protects progenitor cells in primary cell cultures and leads to their enrichment in further passages FACS analysis showing the percentage of double labelled keratinocyte progenitor cells. CD34 and alpha6 Integrin are known markers of epidermal stem cells

  3. PhytoCellTecTM Malus Domestica Favours the Survival of Keratinocyte Progenitor Cells • Early passage human keratinocyte progenitor cells were cultured in presence of PhytoCellTecTM Malus Domestica in a fully defined medium • From cells of each passage, the colony forming efficiency (CFE) was determined For determination of the CFE, cells are seeded at low density. The number of colonies formed is a value for the concentration of progenitor/stem cells. Differentiated keratinocytes have lost the capacity to divide and fast dividing transient amplifying keratinocytes do not proliferate enough to form colonies.

  4. PhytoCellTecTM Malus Domestica Favours the Survival of Keratinocyte Progenitor Cells Cell proliferation is reduced in presence of PhytoCellTecTM Malus Domestica. This again indicates the higher percentage of slowly dividing epidermal stem cells.
