SHELL IDEAS360 - OVERVIEW • Who can participate? • Full time students studying a Bachelors or Masters level degree in any discipline at a recognised, degree-awarding university, with a graduation date after May 2014. • What is Shell Ideas360? • A global competition targeted at University students to collaborate and develop ‘game-changing’ and innovative ideas that can have a positive impact on the future. • What is the role of Universities and Shell? • An Academic Sponsor from a team’s University will need to be identified at registration • Shell will have teams to evaluate idea submissions at Stage 1 and 2, and Shell Mentors and Subject Matter Experts • Challenge of the competition • The theme is People and Planet, and participants submit ideas based on the challenge of Energy, Water and Food. • Incentives and Prizes: • An all expenses paid trip to the Final Event at Shell Eco-Marathon in Rotterdam, The Netherlands • The winning team or individual will win a National Geographic Expedition • Opportunities for participants to connect and engage with like-minded students from around the globe • Stage 2 teams receive online/phone/emailsupport from Shell Mentors and Subject Matter Experts • The best ideas will be considered for funding by Shell’s GameChanger programme For more information about Shell Ideas360, contact us at shellideas360@shell.com Or visit www.shell.com/ideas360

Mentor • What is Shell Ideas360? • Shell Ideas360 is a global competition organisedby Shell International Limited, for full-time University students of any discipline to develop game-changing ideas for tackling Energy, Water and Food issues. • Role description: • A Mentor will provide ‘non-technical’ support (via on-line/phone/email) to Stage 2 individuals/teams and help them to develop their ideas • A Mentor will provide support to Stage 2 individuals/teams from different time-zones (up to +/- 8-10 hours) • Ideal candidate specification: • Experience in a technical or commercial role • Previous experience in Gourami or other coaching role an advantage • Previous experience of University/student relations or activities • An interest in innovative concept development • An interest in helping students to improve their ideas • Available to support teams in different time-zones • Why be involved? • A chance to support a brand new global Shell initiative • Get involved with high-calibre students from around the world • Get close to a major innovation initiative • ‘Give something back’ to Universities • Share your expertise and help students to develop their ideas • Time required and key dates: • A Mentor will receive a pre-read and will be invited to attend a 2 hour briefing session (date tbc) • The Mentor would ideally offer between 5 to 10 one- hour slots between 16 January to 31 March 2014 to mentor and support the Stage 2 individuals/teams • And 1 day between 16 April-14 May 2014 for support for Final Teams • Please indicate your interest by emailing Shellieas360@shell.com with the email subject “Mentor” • Please complete and attach the Profile Form Worksheet to your email • A detailed briefing Pack will be sent to all successful Mentors • For more information about the competition or the role, please email Shellideas360@shell.com and we will respond to you within 24 hours • Note that Line Manager approval might be required for you to be selected to perform this role 3
