  3. A fire fighter has special jobs to do during the week. What does he do just before lunch each day?

  4. Fire fighters have lessons. They learn about different sorts of fire, and about rescuing people and animals.

  5. Six fire fighters can fit into the cab of a fire engine.

  6. Fire fighters have to check all the equipment on their engine. This fire fighter is making sure that the hydraulic cutting tools are working.

  8. There are different types of hoses on the fire engine.

  9. This big pipe sucks water up into the engine’s water tank.

  10. When there is an emergency call, the fire station bell rings. Information about the emergency is printed out so the fire fighters know where to go.

  11. Fire fighters always hang up their coats and bags. They have to be ready to go at a moment’s notice. How many sets of kit can you see on the pegs?

  12. Fire fighters wear special clothes to protect them from fire. Can you see the reflective strips that show up when light shines on them?

  15. At a fire where there is a lot of smoke, fire fighters have to wear breathing apparatus. They breathe clean air through a mask. The air comes from a tank on his back. What has he got to help him see in the dark?

  16. Fire fighters have to work day and night. If they are on duty in the night time, they are allowed to go to bed, as long as there are no emergencies!
