Motivations

  • To be able to predict the closed-loop performance for collocated systems

  • Important for structures not tested on ground (satellites …)


Principle of collocated control

  • Unconditional stability

  • Performance = distance pole-zeros of open-loop transfer function

  • Zeros are the most difficult to predict (very sensitive to local strain distribution for piezo patches)


Available test structures

  • Composite plate with piezo ceramics (d31-d32)

  • Composite plate with macro fiber composites (MFC)

  • Boom with MFC

Crucial points for the modeling of collocated piezo systems

  • Composite material properties play an important role on the poles of the structure

  • Actuator properties (d31, d32 as well as mechanical) play an important role on the zeros

  • Modeling of excentricity (mid-plane) is important for the modeling of the zeros


What is needed ?

  • Mechanical properties of composite

  • Mechanical / electrical properties of PZT patches

  • Mechanical / electrical homogeneized properties of the MFCs : this is a difficult problem !
