THE AFRICAN TRIBES In Africa, the continent in which the current humanity was born, live more than 3.000 ethnic different groups. • NORTH AFRICA The Sahara is a great commercial route of Africa. • ORIENTAL AFRICA Many people have lived in mounts and high lands, never losing his identity and also they continue supporting his traditions • SOUTHERN AFRICA In the south of Africa pervade ancient people with diverse forms of survival. • CENTRAL AFRICA The inhabitants of Central Africa support many of his former traditions, though the pressure of the countries that occupy . • WESTERN AFRICA a great wooded territory in which there live societies based on the hunt and fishing.

THE TUAREG (NORTH AFRICA) Rites.They are known also as ' blue men ' because the males, and not the women, use a blue veil .This one ,protects them from the heat, in a habitat which temperatures come in summer to the 50-60 ºC. Total population:500.000 people Localition :Mali, Libia and Níger. Language: Tifinag The society:Is constituted by nobles, vassals and serfs.

  5. THE MASAI (ORIENTAL AFRICA) Total population: 400.000 people Rites. At the age of 16 the boys surrender to the ceremony of the step to the adult age .They turn into warriors for some years. Localition: South of Kenya and North of Tanzania (valley of the Rift). Language: Nile Saharan, language ,masaiormaa. The society: The social structure masai is very well organized.

  6. THE SAN OR BOSQUIMANOS (SOUTHERN AFRICA) Total population: 55.000 Location : The Kalahari Desert of Botswana and Namibia Rites.An important social characteristic of the san is the nomadism. Language: Khoisan The society: The social estructure of them is based on groups integrated by approximately 10 families. Every group possesses a territory.

  7. THE CONGO O BAKONGO (CENTRAL AFRICA) Total population: 1.680.000 people Location :Angola, The Congo, Gabon and Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rites. The religion of the Congo is very important for the forbears and spirits. Language:Kikongo, branch Bantu The society: The new social system is derived from this progressive emigration, was characterized by the independent villages .

  8. THE HERERO (WESTERN AFRICA ) Totalpopulation: 116.000 people Rites. The local chiefs have religious duties . Location : Angola, Botswana and Namibia. Language: FamilyNiger - Congo, Herero. DialectMbandieru Thesociety:In this matriarchal society. The children are circuncised at 8 years old. All the children who take part simultaneously in this important celebration.
