  1. Discipleship 101 The Challenge of Trust

  2. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you….” • “…and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.” – Mt. 28:19-20

  3. The Events Following Jesus’ Appointment of the 12 • Mark 4:35-41 • While on a “journey” for the Lord, unimaginable obstacles will arise... Where’s your faith?

  4. The Events Following Jesus’ Appointment of the 12 • Mark 6:7-13 • When the Lord gives “unreasonable” commands, • where’s your trust?

  5. The Events Following Jesus’ Appointment of the 12 • Mark 6:30-44 • When what we have is not “enough,” • do we trust that He will do the work with what we have?

  6. The Events Following Jesus’ Appointment of the 12 • Mark 6:45-52 • When we have seemingly used all of our strength, • do we trust Him to bring us the rest of the way?

  7. Discipleship 101 • Our strength & resources will never be enough – but it isn’t our strength that matters – it is His.

  8. God’s Work from the Beginning • 1 Samuel 13:19—14:16 • “Nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or few” • Exodus 3:12; 4:12; 4:15 • “I will certainly be with you” • “I will be with your mouth & teach you what to say” • “I will be with your mouth and with his mouth” • Num. 11:18-23 • “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you will see whether what I say will happen to you or not.”

  9. What about Us? • What has the Lord given you that seems to big? • A sin to overcome? • Stagnated in your growth? • Taking the first step to be evangelistic: make a new friend? • The question isn’t your strength/resources • Will you trust: “lo I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”

  10. What about Us? • Will we be like Israel who entered Canaan? • Ju. 1:19 “And they drove out the inhabitants of the mountains, but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the lowland, because they had chariots of iron.”

  11. What about Us? • Will we be like Israel who entered Canaan? • Ju. 1:27 “However, Manasseh did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shean & its villages, or Taanach & its villages, or Dor & its villages, or Ibleam & its villages, or Megiddo & its villages; for the Cannanites were determined to dwell in that land.”

  12. What about Us? • Ju. 1:34 “And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountains, for they would not allow them to come down to the valley.”

  13. What about Us? • Who among us is like Caleb? • “…here I am this day, eighty-five years old. Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.

  14. What about Us? • Who among us is like Caleb? • “Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb…and the name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim). Then the land had rest from war.” (Josh. 14:6-15)

  15. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen!” • Ephesians 3:20-21
