  2. The American Corners program in Russia is a unique partnership between the American Embassy and roughly 30 public libraries around Russia, making information about the United States available to visitors. American Centers and Corners in Russia

  3. American Corner in Tyumen American Corner in Tyumen was opened by U. S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation Alexander R. Vershbow on October 4, 2004. It is the 6th corner in Western Siberia.

  4. We have about 2, 000 different kinds of materials about the USA: Books about: American society; Politics; Economics; Education; Culture; Arts; Geography; Fiction literature and etc.; Handbooks for teachers and students; Manuals of preparation for different kinds of international exams (CAE, GRE, TOEFL, IELTS and etc.); Dictionaries and encyclopedias. There are: Books and brochures; CD and DVD disks; Audio- and videocassettes; Films; etc. Collection of AC in Tyumen

  5. Corners attract users through programs and activities that include lectures, film showings, tours, exhibits, conferences, seminars, workshops, discussion clubs, holiday celebrations, and more. Each Corner is much more than just a collection of media and equipment

  6. A debate dedicated to the president’s elections in the USA; A talk and a quiz devoted to World Aids Day; Christmas party of american exchange programs’ alumnis; A talk dedicated to the anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War. In our American Corner there are:

There were: a meeting with Public Affairs Officer Brad Hurst and probationer of Consulate John Eliot; A lecture about library system in the USA by attache of USA Embassy Barbara Conati; A slide-presentation about history of Afroamericans in the Western states by prof. K.Tailor; A presentation of J.F. Kennedi’s book “Profiles in Courage Award ”with participation of Public Affairs Officer Brad Hurst; A talk with U. S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation W.Burns and with Consul General of the USA in Yekaterinburg J. Stepanchuk. Farida Shibaeva with Consul General of the USA in Yekaterinburg J.Stepanchuk. Our patrons had a chance to communicate with foreign guests Public Affairs Officer B.Hurst U. S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation W. Burns

  8. In 2008 we with company “Star Traver” organized a pupil’s competition in English language “The World in your eyes”

  9. Our plans: • Fulbright presentation – at 11:00 on October 12, 2009; • A lecture and a presentation “Healthcare Reform” – in October; • To show English films – audience preferences • etc.
