  4. Flickr History • 2002- Started as online game • 2003- Picture and blogging bring Flickr toward photo sharing application • 2005- Flickr acquired by Yahoo

  5. Creating an Account • If you have an existing yahoo account click on the sign in link in the upper right • Otherwise click on the create your account button

  6. Creating a Yahoo Account • Fill out the registration page • Click on “Create My Account”

  7. Successful Yahoo Account Creation • A successful creation of a yahoo account will display: • Your new Yahoo ID • Your Yahoo E-mail • And other details about the account

  8. Creating Flickr Account with Existing Yahoo ID • After clicking Sign in button this page will appear • Fill in Yahoo ID and password • Click “Sign In”

  9. Flickr Login • Choose a Flickr Username • Or merge with an existing account

  10. Getting Started • This screen prompts the new user to get started • Click on the Upload your first photo link

  11. Account Page • Once logged in this page will allow users to manage their photos • To upload photos click the Upload Photos button

  12. Choosing Photos to Upload • Click on the Choose photos button • Browse through folders to find desired photos • Select the image and click “Select”

  13. Uploading Photos • This page shows what file has been selected • In this image the file Grape_seed_extract.jpg is selected • To select more than one photo click add more • Click on “Upload Photos”

  14. Describing Photos • After uploading click on describe your photos • Add a tag and description • If desired choose a set to add it to • Click on Save this batch

  15. Tagging Photos • Tags are keywords or labels added to a photo to make it easier to find later or in a search • Up to 75 tags can be added to a single photo

  16. Tagging Photos • Click on “You” • Click on “Your Photos” • Click on selected photo • Click “Add a tag” on the right column of the screen • Type in a tag • Click “Add”

  17. Flickr Groups • Way to bring people together who are involved in a common interest or activity • Can be created by members to bring specific people together to view photos that each of them has uploaded

  18. Joining Flickr Groups • Click on the Groups tab at the top • To create a group click on the Create your own group tab • Otherwise search an existing group to join

  19. Joining a Desired Group • Click on the desired group page • Click on the “Join this Group?” tab • You are now a member of the group

  20. Uploading Photos to a Group • Upload the photo(s) to your account • Click on the photo you want to upload to the group

  21. Sending Photo to a Group • Click on the “Send to Group” tab above the picture • Choose the group you want to send the image to

  22. Photo Uploaded to Group • A prompt will appear to confirm that the image is uploaded • Click OK • The repeat to upload more photos

  23. Commenting on Group Photos • Go to the desired group • Click on the image in the “Group Photo Pool” • Write comment in text box • Click post comment • The comment will appear below the photo

  24. Managing A Group • To manage a group you must be an administrator • This allows you to: • Delete group images • Invite people to the group • Moderate group settings

  25. Moderating Your Group • Click on “Groups” tab • Select the group that you are an administrator of • Click on “Administration” • Under the “Rules & Moderation” click on “Moderating your group” • Select the appropriate settings

  26. Deleting a Group Image • Go to the group homepage • Click on the small [x] next to the photo • Click “OK” in the prompt window • The photo is deleted

  27. Inviting People to a Group • Go to the group homepage • Click on invite in the top middle • You can choose to invite an established contact • Or invite someone to join Flickr

  28. Inviting a Contact • Click on “choose from your contacts?” • Check off contacts to invite • Write a message if desired • Click “preview your invite” • Click “send the invite”

  29. Inviting a Person to Join Flickr • Click on “Invite a new person to join Flickr” • Fill out the given form • Click send

  30. Geotagging Photos • Geotagging allows you to tag photos to a specific location on a map

  31. How to Geotag • Click on the desired photo • Click on the “place this photo on a map” • Select the desired security on your geotagged photos

  32. How to Geotag • Zoom to the desired location on the map • Drag the photo from the bottom photo album • Drop the photo on the desired location Zoom
