Allegory and Symbols

Explore the allegorical symbols in Edgar Allen Poe's "The Masque of Red Death" that depict the inevitability of death. Symbols such as the party guests, Prince Prospero's abbey, the black room, the masked visitor, and more, convey the message that no one can escape death. This analysis worksheet examines how these symbols help develop the theme of mortality.
