What HOSA is about • **SIGN IN AS YOU ENTER (SIGN-IN SHEETS ON EVERY OTHER ROW & SIT TOWARD THE FRONT!**      • HOSA's mission is to empower HOSA members to become leaders in the health community through education, collaboration, and experience. • At Central HOSA, we do this through the blood drives, service events, fundraisers, and competition

HOSA Halloween • ALL PAID HOSA MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO AN AFTER-SCHOOL PARTY, HALLOWEEN THEMED...FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST!! • PIZZA & DRINKS – POPCORN & CANDY BAR – EACH MEMBER WILL PAY $5 TO ATTEND! • MOVIE (MEDICAL RELATED) PATCH ADAMS, GIFTED HANDS, LORENZO'S OIL, ETC. • GUEST SPEAKER FOR THE SPRING HOSA GET TOGETHER OR ANOTHER MOVIE? ICE CREAM SOCIAL

  4. HOSA WEEK AT CMS – 10-28-19 MEDICAL MONDAY – WEAR SCRUBS, LAB COAT, ETC! TUESDAY – CRAZY SOCK DAY - "SOCK IT TO PEDIATRIC CANCER" - HOSA'S NATIONAL PROJECT & DO A FUNDRAIDER WEDNESDAY – WEAR RED FOR BLOOD DRIVE DONATION AWARENESS & DRIVE IS VAMPIRE THEMED THURSDAY – HALLOWEEN COSTUMES – FOLLOW SCHOOL POLICY FRIDAY – HOSA DAY – WEAR NAVY/MAROON OR OLD HOSA SHIRT

Service Points   • 2/semester (FALL/SPRING) • *Food donations DO NOT count as a point • **no double dipping** Opportunities:  • Blood drives (10/30/19, 1-23-20 & 3-23-20) • 2 donors recruited = 1 point • Fall Festival – See Mrs. Harrison to sign up • Wellness Fair (10-18-19) • NHC (up in the air) • Alive Hospice volunteer opportunities (in the works!) • Lock-in (most likely 2/14) • Heart Walk (9/21/19) Extra ideas? EMAIL gatess@rcschools.net, harrisone@rcschools.net or tell an officer!

  6. Fundraising • Butter braids: Start 10/23, End 11/6 - butter braids • Spring Sale will be cookie dough? All members participate & State competitors get their profit from their sales taken off State costs! We need ALL members to participate! **Fundraiser approval is pending**

  7. Competition • Regionals Friday, 2-7-19 @Columbia State Community College • State Monday (afternoon) thru Thursday April 6-9-2020 – Nashville @ Gaylord Opryland Resort.  Parents will drop off on Monday afternoon at hotel by 6pm.    • If more than one person/group signs up for an event, you will compete to see who gets it (or if you have done it in the past) **only sign up if membership dues have been turned in **

  8. Competition (cont'd) • International competition (ILC) June 24-27-2020 in Houston, TX. • We will fly there, so we need to fundraise well this year!!

  9. Reminders • $25 dues includes State/National fees + T-shirt •  Paid by 9/27/19, checks payable to CMS HOSA, Cash is ok! • Google form on HOSA page needs to be completed AFTER membership dues are paid!

  10. Extras: • T-shirt designs due by 10-21 (email to gatess@rcschools.net) • Competition sign-ups are outside Gates room (Annex 345) • Check dates to make sure that you can attend ALL....Regional, State & International competitions • Stay up to date with websites – CMS HOSA, Tennessee HOSA & National HOSA • Coffee Central – HOSA receives a profit from sales, members need to participate! See Mrs. Gates for sign up! • PIG OUT 10-4 – HOSA SPONSORS MAGGIE MOO’S – PROMOTE! • MTSU field trip- See Ms. Gates if interested – HOSA & Student Nurse take priority.  MAXIMUM # 75! WAITING ON MTSU CONFIRMATION!

  11. HOSA VOLUNTEERS – RUCO HEART WALK • YOU MUST SEE MRS. GATES & PICK UP A VOLUNTEER WAVIER IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. • COPY OF WAIVER WILL BE ON HOSA WEBPAGE
