SSA Stage 2 – Assessment of Provision • Provision • FE colleges more heavily used than elsewhere • Private providers very important • HE very sparse • Geographically focused on central belt • Heavy focus on technical skills (especially smaller enterprises) • Other training confined largely to bigger employers • Training • Costs • Logistics (time) • Funding • Sources – employer confusion • Quality generally good, satisfaction generally high, but… • Employers vote with their feet finding important: • Location/convenience • Flexible provision • Sector-specific trainer experience
