Candidacy Issues • The policy is that the forms for moving PhD students into candidacy must be submitted before the ‘end’ of the previous semester • One issue that has arisen too frequently is that students are registered for Dissertation Hours before being admitted to candidacy – BOG file issues

  4. ETD Deadlines • Remind students that they need to register for graduation by the end of week 6 • Students also need to do the ETD registration before they submit their document to ProQuest • Deadlines for Spring 2013 • Masters – F, March 29th, 2013 • PhD - F, April 12th, 2013 • ETD Workshops: Jan, 30th and Feb. 19th, 2013

  5. ETD Plagiarism • In a nutshell, use either Blackboard or Canvas to make a SafeAssignment/TurnItIn assignment as you would for a course

  6. Presidential Fellowships • Application sent with previous email • Each department can nominate one student

  7. Additional Reminders and Changes in Deadlines • McKnight Fellowships • CORRECTION: The Dissertation Completion and Signature Research Awards will have a Feb. 15th deadline • Policy Council will be reviewing Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Awards – so deadline for those is May 1 • Next Meeting: Feb. 28th, 2013

  8. SPEAK Test and Spoken English Course • Now overseen by Academics • Score of 50 needed to be an instructor of record • Course to be offered in Spring semester: T, Th 3:30-4:45 (starting Jan. 22nd)
