  3. LIFT: key facts £1.1m grants fund 50% match required Minimum grant size £5,000 Grants exceptional above £50,000 Benefiting SME orgs (under 250 FTE/€50m pa) Rural Norfolk & north Suffolk focus Projects delivered by March 2020

  4. LIFT: Sept 2018 Update 16 projects approved 100% success rate to date Average grant size circa £32k LIFT Jobs almost fully committed LIFT Trials & LIFT Skills projects sought £400k in grants still available

Examples of approved SKILLS projects ROGER PEMBERTON ACTION COACH – awarded £9,702 to subsidise the costs of his quality assured advice, training and mentorship for the owners and staff across six businesses. With guaranteed results targets for increased productivity and growth WAVENEY VALLEY TOURISM – awarded £7,500 to offer free training for tourism related businesses in the area –accredited customer care, marketing and digital skills BUILDING OUR SKILLS - Training organisation Turning Factor awarded £7,898 to subsidise the cost of Institute of Leadership and Management qualifications and associated project work for employees at nine separate enterprises based in Thetford (Incl.1 vol sector) EASTON & OTLEY COLLEGE – awarded £35,874 to subsidise the costs of places on a new land-based engineering course designed and developed with local employers

LIFT Skills • Wide range of non-statutory training & skills considered • LIFT particularly keen on accredited qualifications or units towards one • Could reduce the costs for third sector organisations to • Train and upskill your own staff and managers (if you are SME and rural) • Give tailored and personalised support for employed people in rural areas so that they are able to access training (e.g. basic literacy, numeracy, ICT or other skills) in order to progress into (or secure) better paid employment • Subsidise your training/consultancy services for businesses. E.G. to understand the needs of employees with particular challenges (eg mental health First Aid, or supporting Carers at work) – you will need to evidence demand.

Examples of approved TRIALS projects ANATAP awarded £150,037 to support 45 businesses in rural areas to offer work trials and apprenticeships to young Care Leavers and other vulnerable YPs CHETAL ENTERPRISES award £58,013 to work in 5 prisons and YOIs in the region to engage with those nearing release and brokering suitable work trails for them in rural businesses in Norfolk. Tackling other barriers such as accommodation and additional support needs CLINKS CARE FARM awarded £7,906 to run events and broker work trails and work experience for those who have been supported to become work-ready in the supportive care farm setting. Target is to engage 20 rural businesses who have suitable job vacancies RPA LTD – a Loddon policy consultancy company, awarded £28,483 to offer 6 month paid internships to those with unemployed graduate with lower qualifications and work experience levels than would normally be required, leading to highly paid jobs with the company.

LIFT Trials could fund third sector organisations to: Cover 50% of the cost of internships, pre-apprenticeship trials or work experience schemes in you own organisationif you are an SME and based outside of Norwich, Yarmouth or Gorleston OR Deliver employability & work readiness support butextending this with work placements Engage with other (SME) businesses in rural areas to understand their recruitment needs and skills gaps Support and incentivise rural SMEs to offer paid work trials, internships or schemes of work experience. NOTE The individual beneficiaries could live in an urban area

  10. LIFT Jobs LIFT Jobs will enable organisations to deliver tailored and personalised support for unemployed people. Support could include: Support to unemployed people to secure sustainable work Additional support for the long term unemployed, in particular those who have left the Work Programme and/or face complex barriers to work. Innovative projects to support self-employment and business creation as a route out of unemployment Addressing issues of rural isolation, transport, access and childcare

Applying to LIFT Contact the Project Facilitator to discuss your project idea Identify possible match funding source(s) Complete & submit Expression of Interest Feedback from LIFT team and LAG Identify match funding offered Complete and submit full application LAG members decide to approve or not

European Social Fund requirements Grants claimed from Norfolk County Council LIFT Team claimed quarterly in arrears with: • Evidence of expenditure • Evidence of project activity including • training sessions • engagement with businesses and individuals • tracking involvement of individual participants and project outputs and results • timesheets for project staff and volunteers

Help available from the LIFT Team Shaping an eligible project idea Identifying eligible costs Exploring possible match funding ideas Advice and feedback on drafts of your EOI and application Initial on-site visit to prepare for claims & evidencing requirements Ongoing support around claims and evidence.
