  2. Update of ALICE project • “Housekeeping” • Management Activities since last ALICE Meeting, Rio, November 2004 • Management Activities ahead until end of 2005

  3. “House Keeping” - I • New per diem rates published • http://europa.eu.int/comm/europeaid/perdiem/index_en.htm • Per diem for Venezuela has increased to Euro 177 (you can claim 3 per diems; Total 531 Euros) • Exchange rates are published • http://europa.eu.int/comm/budget/inforeuro/index.cfm?language=en • Make sure to claim the months of invoice ! • October exchange rate for US$ to Euro: • 1,2063 US$ = 1 Euro

  4. House Keeping II • LA-NREN Expense claim form to be used • All claims to be in Euros! • Eligible: • 1 representative per partner for CLARA-Tec meeting • WG leaders • Trainers • NOC, NEG and Tec representatives • If more than 1 person from NREN, please claim together!

  5. House Keeping III • Claim must contain • Economy class travel ticket and original invoice • All boarding cards of the trip • Max. 3 per diems per person at the rate of the Venezuela (177 Euros) = 531 Euros to be claimed • 1 Euro = 1,2063 US$ (October 2005) • Always use exchange rate relevant to date of invoice! • Do not submit claims for other expenses (no invoices needed to support the per diem claim)

Expense Claims II • As decided in ALICE meeting Lima (July 2004): • Those LA partners that are contributing to Phase B TODAY can claim 100% • Those NRENs that have signed Phase A membership and paid the Phase A contribution can claim 80% • All documents to be posted to DANTE DANTE fao Peter Nancollins City House 126-130 Hills Road Cambridge, CB2 1PQ Inglaterra

Activities since Veracruz II • Connectivity Tenders • Contract Signature between DANTE and Telmex for connectivity to Central America • Contracts for approval with the European Commission for connectivity to Ecuador and Colombia • Final negotiations of contract for connectivity to Bolivia • Best and Final request for connectivity to Cuba Honduras and Paraguay -> offer of connectivity to RedCLARA was made to NREN; under discussion between DANTE, CLARA and NRENs

  10. Activities until the end of 2005 - II Focus of ALICE Project Management will be on • Financial Situation of the Project • Extension of current project • Requested by DANTE; extension from 31 May 2006 to 31 March 2007 • Future Funding • Sustainability for CLARA and RedCLARA

JRA1: Performance Measurement and Management • Objectives: • Design and Development of a framework to exchange monitoring information between domains (networks). • Enhance and integrate relevant tools within the framework. • Show what can be achieved with a multi-domain monitoring system and its benefits by providing visualisation applications.

JRA2: Security • Objectives: • improving the overall security within the GÉANT2 community • Securing GÉANT2 network elements and services • Building of security services • Designing and establishing an infrastructure for co-ordinated security incident handling • Relationship with TF-CSIRT • Establishment of advisory panel

JRA3: Bandwidth Allocation & Reservation (BW on Demand) • Objectives • streamlined provisioning of deterministic E2E services (“lightpaths”) [taking into account heterogeneity from the beginning] • Provision of “advanced users” access to the BoD service hooks currently being requested by some (e.g. GRID users) • Requirements Gathering and SoA Surveys • Service Specification • Implementation • Testing & Service Validation

  22. JRA4: Testbed • Objective • Provide and operate infrastructure for other testbed initiatives • Carry out evaluation of technologies in order to enhance the current portfolio of services and to be ready for the next generation network

JRA5: Roaming and Authorisation • Objective • build a European Roaming Infrastructure (eduroam-ng) • pilot the federated support for existent Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructures for Research and Education, this will be called eduGAIN • Collaboration with many external groups: TF-Mobility, TF-EMC2, GN2 activities (JRA1, SA3), international groups like gwg, FWNA, Grids, …
