  3. Origin • The name Kitts originates in Great Britain, meaning diminutive, or small in size. It comes from the name Christopher. Christopher means ‘Bearer of Christ’ .

  6. Trebuchet This device was used to destroy walls. This famous type of catapult was the main reason many castle were destroyed.

  7. Characteristics of a Trebuchet • The machine is powered by gravity. • An arm rotates a throwing arm, usually 4-6 times larger then the counter weight. • A sling is at the end of the arm, as a second fulcrum.

  8. Early Trebuchets • The earliest form of a trebuchet was a Staff Sling. This one-man machine was used in 965 to disrupt enemy formations
