  2. boycott Def.)To refuse to deal with or buy from for specific reasons. My parents organized a boycott of the toy store for selling realistic-looking toy guns. (N) We’re boycotting the restaurant because so many people have gotten sick from eating there. (V)

  3. continuously • Def.)Uninterrupted • (Adj)Ex) My y brother talks continuously, without interruptions, which makes it hard to actually have a conversation with him.

  4. stifle • 1)to suffocate, 2)to muffle 3)to cut off air • My brother put a pillow over my face and almost stifled, or suffocated, me. (V) • It is so hot and stuffy in this room. It’s stifling in here! (Adj.)

  5. restrain • Def.)to hold back • Ex.) My mom has to restrain our dog when people come over since he gets way too excited. (V)

  6. inhibit • Def.) to forbid or restrain. • I was watering my horses when all of a sudden the water stopped flowing because of a kink in the hose. The kink inhibited, or stopped, the water from flowing.

  8. detain • Def.)10 to keep waiting or 2) to delay • Ex) We were detained, or kept waiting, on the phone for the concert tickets. • Ex) We were detained at the airport because of the bad weather.

  9. punctuate • Def.) to interrupt occasionally 2) to use punctuation marks • Ex) My teachers, like Mrs. Kebart, make sure I always use proper punctuation marks at the end of a sentence. • Ex) Her fancy garments are punctuated by lots of “bling” and other sparkles all over them.
