Areas of Interest?How ITE and its councils can help. • Are you looking for networking opportunities to explore innovations in practices and procedures? • Are you interested in sharing project knowledge or in becoming a part of a technical project committee? • Are you looking for recommendations or have a question you’d like to ask a network of transportation professionals?

  3. Core Purpose of ITE To advance transportation knowledge and practices for the benefit of society. If you are interested in becoming a leader in the transportation profession, ITE can take you where you want to go!

Mission of ITE Councils To enhance professional collaboration and advance the technical body of knowledge through communities of common interest, serving as a link between these communities and other elements of ITE, including: • the ITE international leadership, • Districts/Sections, • student chapters, and • individual ITE members.

ITE Council Membership Membership in area-of-practice councils provides ITE members with opportunities to be instrumental in developing technical products and to actively contribute to the body of knowledge in a discipline. • Respond to calls for volunteers to committees on technical projects. • Submit an abstract for a meeting. • Send newsletter articles.

Emphasis Areas of Activities Development of standards and recommended practices; Preparation of informational reports and handbooks; Sponsorship of specialty sessions held in conjunction with ITE Technical Conferences and Annual Meetings; Facilitation of seminars, workshops, and briefings relevant to issues of high priority and interest to the membership; Working with ITE headquarters in identifying professional development needs and determining how best to address them; and Exploring and applying the most efficient manner of information sharing, learning, and networking with other transportation professionals around the world.

ITE’s New Member • Directory —Create a comprehensive and interactive profile that will represent you both professionally and individually within the ITE Community. • Discussions—Post your request for recommendations, respond to a question, or browse discussion threads. • Community/Council Sites—Begin streamlining your volunteer experience and improving your membership interactions by participating. • Glossary—Add or modify entries all in one place, as well as rate, comment and view related terms using this collaboration and reference tool. • Resource Library—Securely share documents and work collaboratively with other members while institutionalizing content into the ITE’s knowledge base. • Event Calendar—Find out what is going on at ITE, both at the international and local level. community.ite.org

  12. Membership in a Council • You must be a current ITE member to join a council. • You are eligible for free membership in one council from each category (employer-type and technical). • You may join as many additional councils as you like for a fee ($20).
