  4. Germany Location The University of Wuppertal is situated in “Nordrhein- Westfalen” (NRW), one of the 16 federal states of Germany, and it borders on the Netherlands and Belgium in the West. NRW is economically the most significant German state with an outstanding educational and cultural landscape.

  8. Wuppertal The city has about 375,000 inhabitants and is located in the narrow valley of the river Wupper in the lovely area of countryside called the „Bergisches Land“. The scenery in this area is particulary delightful with its wooded hills, meadows, gardens and fields. Wuppertal is an interesting mixture of outgoing metropolis and cosy village.

  16. Mensa and Cafeteria The Studentenwerk (HSW) runs the dining facilities at the university. Lunch is taken in Cafeterias and the Mensa, where A variety of cheap meals and foods is offered.   17. German courses for international students These language courses prepare beginners, inter- mediate as well as advanced learners for studying at a German university. There are also specialised courses for professionals in the fields of economics, technology and the humanities.   48. Accommodation There are four on-campus halls of residence with a total capacity of about 1000 places.

  49. Accommodation The rooms are rented unfurnished in the form of single apartments and flats designed for flat-sharing. The furnished apartments for exchange students are 20m² with kitchenette and shower/toilet and cost 237 Euro per month. Cable-TV, internet-access and laundry facilities are available.

  50. Accommodation Students can either live in one of these residences or rent a room/apartment off campus. The housing market in Wuppertal is quite good. Popular areas to live for students are the „Nordstadt“ and the „Südstadt“ of Wuppertal-Elberfeld, where apartment prices vary between 200 and 250 €.
