  2. Anti-Trust Caution GS1 and the GSMP operate under the GS1 anti-trust caution. Strict compliance with anti-trust laws is and always has been the policy of GS1. The best way to avoid problems is to remember that the purpose of the committee is to enhance the ability of all industry members to compete more efficiently. This means: • There shall be no discussion of prices, allocation of customers, or products, etc. • If any participant believes the group is drifting towards an impermissible discussion, the topic shall be tabled until the opinion of counsel can be obtained. • The full anti-trust caution is available in the Community Room if you would like to read it in its entirety

(see next slide) • Issues of conduct are governed by the GS1 Code Of Conduct • Improving the Process • Give us your suggestions on how to improve the GSMP process

  13. Consensus • GS1 Standards are intended to meet global needs and reflect a broad consensus of the GS1 community. • Decisions of GSMP groups are made by consensus. • Consensus is defined as • general agreement, characterised by the absence of sustained opposition to substantial issues by any important part of the concerned interests, and • by a process that involves seeking to take into account the views of all parties concerned and to reconcile any conflicting arguments. • Consensus does not mean unanimity. • 2/3 Majority is sufficient, but broader consensus is preferable. • Any No votes of final standards solutions are discussed by POC & BCS.
