Subjects of Bargaining (IC 20-29-6-4) • The following topics may be collectively bargained under the law: • Salary and wages • Includes the amounts of pay increases available to employees under the adopted salary scale • Salary and wage related fringe benefits, including accident, sickness, health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement benefits, and paid time off

Prohibited Subjects of Bargaining (IC 20-29-6-4.5 and IC 20-29-6-4.7) • The following topics may not be collectively bargained under the law: • School calendar • Teacher dismissal procedures and criteria • Teacher evaluation procedures and criteria • Restructuring options available to a school corporation when a school fails to meet state or federal accountability standards Length of Contract(IC 20-29-6-4.7) • A contract may not extend past the end of a state budget biennium

  7. Subjects of Discussion (IC 20-29-6-7) • Curriculum development and revision • Selection of curricular materials • Teaching methods • Hiring, evaluation, promotion, demotion, transfer, assignment, and retention of certificated employees • Student discipline • Expulsion or supervision of students • Pupil/teacher ratio • Class size or budget appropriations • Safety issues for students and employees in the workplace, except those items required to be kept confidential by state or federal law • Hours

  8. Evaluation and Compensation(IC 20-28-9-1.5) • A teacher rated ineffective or improvement necessary may not receive any raise or increment for the following year. • Increases or increments in a salary scale must be based upon at least two of the following factors: • Years of service and/or additional training (not more than 33% of any increase or increment) • Evaluation results • Instructional leadership roles • Academic needs of students in the school corporation
