  1. Update on Experimental Area Organisation Structure Emmanuel Tsesmelis LEAF 3 March 2006 E. Tsesmelis - TS/LEA

  2. Introduction • In view of • the appointment of four new Technicians (Work-site Management), the • the addition of two new Safety Coordinators, and • the start of a new phase of activities at the experimental areas, the organisation structure supplied by the TS Department to ensure the coordination of the LHC experimental areas has been updated. E. Tsesmelis - TS/LEA

  3. Technicians (Work-site Management) • As work-site supervision technicians for the LHC experimental areas, the four newly-appointed Technicians (Work-site Management) have the following functions: • In the framework of the Experimental Area Teams already in place, actively ensure that working procedures are respected in the experimental areas under the responsibility of TS-LEA, keeping technicians and engineers of the TS-LEA-EAM section well-informed of the application of procedures. E. Tsesmelis - TS/LEA

  4. Updated Organisation Structure *Assistance for USA15 and US15 ** Assistance to ATLAS until milestone of Ready for Lowering CMS Detector E. Tsesmelis - TS/LEA

  5. Update to Point 1 (ATLAS) Experimental Area Organisation • Update has been made to the organisation structure supplied by the TS Department to ensure the coordination of the ATLAS Experimental Area at Point 1 to cover the installation and commissioning of the ATLAS experiment in the underground areas. • The UX15 organisation structure for the installation and commissioning phase of the ATLAS experiment remains unchanged. • The ATLAS Counting Room Management (CRM) organisation structure has been created under the responsibility of the ATLAS Collaboration to provide analysis and follow-up of WPs for USA15 and US15, where commissioning of the experiment electronics is carried-out. E. Tsesmelis - TS/LEA

  6. Global Coordination • - Work Package definition • (budget, scope & schedule) • - All activities outside the Experimental Area • - Detector Installation & commissioning • - Overall schedule Global coordination of the Istallation and comissioning of the Experiment TC Team TC PH HD In situ coordination -TS services & infrastructure - Detector installation & commissioning EAM LEA GL TS HD EAT Update to Point 1 (ATLAS) Experimental Area Organisation PH TS E. 8. Update to Point 5 (CMS) Experimental Area Organisation • In view of the start of CMS lowering in to the UXC55 cavern in Summer 2006, the corresponding organisation structure for Point 5 (CMS) is presently under review. E. Tsesmelis - TS/LEA

  9. SXL2 Surface Building at Point 2 • In order to guarantee the safety coordination of the ALICE activities in SXL2, the safety co-ordination of this building has been re-integrated under the responsibility of the TS Department. • The update has resulted in the following: • E. Paulat has been re-appointed Safety Coordinator for SXL2. • P. Ijzermans remains TSO and will continue to lead the organisation of Work Packages and the corresponding Work Package Analysis meetings for SXL2. • Effective as of 1 February 2006 E. Tsesmelis - TS/LEA

  10. Documentation • Updated versions of the relevant documents • EDMS Doc. No. 483480 (Experimental Areas Organisation) • EDMS No. 490701 (List of Buildings and Civil Engineering Infrastructures Included in the Different Experimental Areas) • EDMS Doc. No. 690581 (Update of Organisation Structure for ATLAS Experimental Area) has been released. E. Tsesmelis - TS/LEA
