Mr. Black Room 2210 • Expectations To exemplify the attributes of: • Mature Responsible Young Adolescence (MRYA) • To complete all assignments • To monitor and communicate school progress and activities to my parents • To achieve better than I did the day before • To meet and overcome all obstacles in my path

  3. Procedures Starting Class: • Be on Time • Enter Class Silently • Sit in your assigned seat • Take out your materials for social studies/ Submit Homework/ Prepare to Work • Review the agenda and board • Start Journal of Positive Thought and Warm-Up

  4. Tardy to Class • Excused: • Enter Silently • Submit Excused notice to teacher • Have a seat and take out your work • Submit homework or due assignments • Un-Excused: • Sign Detention List • Have a seat and take out your work • Submit homework or due assignments

  5. Scheduled Checkout (Early Release) • Please tell the teacher as you enter the room • The teacher will be at the door/ prior to class • Quietly raise your hand to get teacher attention, upon acknowledgement prepare • Pack your materials, get any handouts, etc. • Exit the room at the scheduled time • Report to the Main Office to wait on your ride, or receive a “Green Slip” • Sign the Office Early Release Binder

  6. Restroom Sign-Out & In • Go to the door • Complete “Restroom Sign-out Sheet” • Wait on teacher’s nod or wave • Return to class (3 minutes tops) Sign-In time • Return to seat and resume assignment

  7. Moving Around During Class • Permitted when instructed by teacher • To get supplies, i.e. sharpen pencil, get paper, or materials needed to complete assignment • NO LEASURE WALKING! • NO SOCIAL VISITING! • NO CHANGING SEAT, UNLESS INSTRUCTED!

  8. Class and Homework Assignments • All Assignments are expected to reflect your best work • All Assignments are expected to be submitted on time • All Assignments are expected (due) upon your return from being absent. It is your responsibility to communicate to achieve • Mismanagement of time is no reason for not getting the assignment completed

  9. Class Discussions • Please participate, it is part of the grade • I want to hear what you have to say • Each student receives “Verbal Assessment Points” • Make all comments and questions relevant to the current discussion • If your input or question is off the topic write it down and ask later

  10. After an Excused Absence • Go to the EA Homework PWHA on Wall (Previous Week Hand-outs & Agenda BOX) • Copy any homework not on the Weekly Agenda • Retrieve any handouts • Sign the notebook (acknowledgement) • No make-up work for unexcused absences • Make-up test on day after you return: 2:30PM- get a tutoring form, or by teacher assigned time

  11. Off-Task While at School • Three Step Process for Correction: • 1. Warning: INFRACTION NOTICE • 2. Action Plan/ Mini-Behavior Plan • Parent Communication/ Signature (official record) • 30 Minute, Friday Only DT • 3. Office Disciplinary Referral • Severe Clause: Any student who uses profanity, fights, steals, damages school property (this includes property of teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher and expectations set in Manners are Magic by Jean Abrahamson, Teacher Emeritus) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

  12. Go-Getters:What to do if you finish your work early • Work on unfinished Social Studies/ Science • Review Your Vocabulary/Unfamiliar Words • Write a “What have I learned statement” in your Soc. St./ Sci. classroom notebook • Start working on tonight’s Soc. St./ Sci. • Write “Teen Challenge” Q and A • Complete an S.E.A.T. extended learning technology quest/ set date to share

  13. After School Tutoring • TUTORING is NOT a RESCHEDULING of CLASS TIME! • Must be engaged during class • Get a Tutoring Form from wall box • Submit to teacher and agree on appointed time • Have teacher sign & list date & time • Take home to Parent/Guardian for signature • Return to teacher the next day

Teacher Pulled From ClassIn cases where teacher is speaking to someone at the door, checking the ELA or hallway, stepped into a neighboring class or on the telephone: • Be Responsible • Stay in your seat • Continue focus on your lesson • Monitor Self- MRYA! • Mature Responsible Young Adolescence

  15. Substitute Teacher • All students must meet the daily expectations for class • Complete all assignments • Any divergence or misbehaviors will serve detentions and receive a Pink-slip, Correct Behavior Form, Action Plan, or Office Referral • You must be accountable for your actions! • MRYA

  16. Class Dismissal • The Teacher dismisses you, not the clock or passers-by! • Do not start packing up prior to the Teacher’s class-closing (recap of main idea/ learning objective/ achievement) and gives the official instruction to exit the room. • “HAVE A NICE DAY”
