  7. SMG of the School • They Introduce: • School administration and school policies • Staff manual including Rewards and Punishments policy. • Electronic administration systems • PRT handbook • Registration requirements

  9. Classroom Mentors • PRT’s Classroom practice • Establish set up of classroom routines • Classroom observations • Monitor progress • Suggest and discuss strategies • Liaise with HOD • All year • Supported by mentoring handbook and mentoring manager and experienced mentors. • SCT

  12. Importance of Support • Week ‘0’ – induction starts: • SCT led PD • Meeting with mentors • Pressure points in the year acknowledged • Stress being objectified

Issues with Mentoring Programme and Parts • Consistency of the mentoring given. • It is not long enough i.e. more time allocated to support Year 2 Parts. • What to do when PRT is not being reflective and does not act upon advice/guidance. • Cases of Parts being ‘loaded’ by school with extra responsibility. • Cases of Parts (and mentors) being time overloaded – ‘unders’ and ‘overs’.

  14. Where To From Here • Mentoring library • Develop handbook further. • Establish a core of practised mentors • Establish a support group of Parts – especially for PRT2 year. • Entrench support programme for Parts in the school.
