  2. retriever (Page 37) • Definition: a type of hunting dog • Sentence: Even though retrievers are known for being hunting dogs, they also make very good pets.

  3. trembling (Page 42) • Definition: shaking with fear • Sentence: The woman was trembling with fear when she saw the mouse run across the floor.

  4. prideful (Page 45) • Definition: havinga sense of satisfaction, arrogant • Sentence: The prideful boy wore the medal that he had won in the competition all week long.

  5. embarrassed (Page 42) • Definition: a feeling of being shamed; made shy; humiliated • Sentence: I felt embarrassed when the two girls laughed after I slipped and fell down.

  6. snuffled (Page 44) • Definition: inhaled; breathed in • Sentence: The dog snuffled his nose on the flower then sneezed.

  7. peculiar (Page 47) • Definition: odd;strange, out of the ordinary • Sentence: Skunks have a very strong, and peculiar smell.

  8. grand (Page 50) • Definition: fantastic, great • Sentence: My puppy and I think that eating ice cream on a hot, hot day is grand.

  9. trustworthy (Page 55) • Definition: worthy of trust; truthful; dependable; • Sentence: To work at a bank, you must be trustworthy.
