Types of Work Classifications • Job – a piece of work; a specific task done as part of the routine of one’s occupation or for an agreed price • Occupation – a person’s usual or principal work or business; a means of earning a living; vocation • Career – an occupation or profession; one requiring special training; one’s life work • Volunteer – a contribution of free labor, usually to a non-profit organization

Top 5 Reasons People Work • Income – the monetary payment received for goods or services; $ • Identity – condition or character as to who a person is • Lifestyle – the way you use your time, energy, and other resources • Satisfaction – fulfillment or contentment • Contribution – to give assistance for the completion of a task

Changes at work • Global Economy – the way all the world economies are linked • Technology – the practical use of scientific tools to get things done • Society – a body of individuals living as members of a community • Workplace Trends – changes that occur over a period of time in job settings • Work – effort directed to produce or accomplish something
