  2. Summary Long were the nights where best friends Adrienne and Dakota would dance to their favorite songs, share secrets and stay up past midnight. Dakota Star had grown distant from Adrienne, and headed into a phase of black dresses and classic rock- putting her best friend in the past. Years later on a school night, Adrienne received a phone call from an anonymous phone number, only to find that Dakota had tried to call her and left an eerie voice mail. Thoughts were whirling through her mind. And to find out that there were rumors that Dakota had committed suicide or had gone missing overwhelmed Adrienne to the max. After ignoring Dakota’s phone call, Adrienne could not stop thinking about whether she was the reason that Dakota was missing. Read the book, “Then You Were Gone” by Lauren Strasnick to figure out the hidden secret behind Dakota’s disappearance.

  3. Response – Diary Entry (From Adrienne’s Perspective) Dear Diary, I am very scared for Dakota. Would if she died? I feel as if I left our old friendship on a bad note. Its been a couple days since she attempted to call me. Maybe she felt the same, so that’s why she tried to call. Anyway, my friends have been worried that I am not acting the same. I have to admit, I have been acting a bit different. This whole experience has definitely changed me. I need to find out what happened to Dakota. I hope she is okay. ~Yours truly, Adrienne.~

  4. Exploration – Email to Author Dear Lauren Strasnick, I have recently read your amazing book, “Then You Were Gone,” and would like to ask you some questions about the novel. First off, what inspired you to write this novel? I think the idea of the story is very detailed and unique. Also, did any of the parts in the story actually happen to you in real life? Did you have any friends that broke apart from you? I really enjoyed reading your novel. Thank you for your time, ~Nina H.~
