  2. Graphic cards Are expansion cards which generates output images to a display. Most graphic cards offer functions such as accelerated rendering of 3D scenes and 2D graphics. Other graphic cards are used for PC games.

  3. Graphic tablets Is a computer input device that allows the person who is using it to hand draw images and graphics. It consists of a flat surface upon which the user may draw or trace an image using a stylus

  4. Digital cameras Is a stores images digitally instead of a film it makes taking photos quicker because you don’t have to process films. They can be downloaded to a computer. The amount of photos is limited by the amount of memory the phone has.

  5. Printers • A printer prints of documents from your computer whether its a text or graphic document. They print of documents using ink which you have to regularly put into the printer when the ink runs out.

  6. Monitors • A monitor is an electronic visual display for computers they are a thin film transistor liquid crystal display

  7. CD-rom • CD-ROMS are used for distributing computer software such as video games and CD’s it is a pre-pressed compact disc that contains data

  8. HDD • A hard disk drive is a digital magnetic storage device it has rotating rigged platters it is a device which is used for storing and retrieving digital information mainly computer data.

  9. Memory SD cards An SD card is a non volatile memory card format developed by SD card associations to be used in portable devices. There are more than 400 brands across more than dozens of categories and there are more than 8,000 models.

  10. Vector graphic software Vector graphics are is use of geometrical primitives such as points lines and curves and shapes or polygons. They are based on images made up of paths

  11. Bitmap software Pixels in reality would appear as a small dot A bitmap image is a file used to store a picture it consist of small blocks called pixels. Each pixel can be any colour and any brightness.

  12. Photo manipulation software • Photo manipulation software such as Photoshop allow you to create an illusion or deception in a photo. Photos are normally taken with a digital camera and put onto a computer.

  13. The need for naming files • You should always name your files so you know what each file is e.g. history presentation so you don’t have to spend ages looking through different files trying to find it. It also helps if you name the file the date which you made it on e.g.13/4/11.

  14. The need for converting files • We convert files so we can edit them some programs you cant edit everything that you want to edit.

  15. BMP • Stands for bitmap image file it’s a raster image file used to store bitmap digital images.

  16. PNG • Stands for portable network graphics it’s a bitmapped image format it employs lossless data compression

  17. GIF • Stands for graphics interchange format it is also a bitmapped image format.

  18. JPEG • JPEG stands for joint photographic experts group it is a used method of lossy compressions for digital photography.
