  2. FACT SHEET • Project acronym: GeoCom • Project full title:Geothermal Communities – demonstrating the cascading useof geothermalenergy for district heating with small scale RES integration and retrofitting measures • Funded period:01.01.2010. – 31.12.2014 • Total budget: 11.541.696 EUR • EC funding: 3.513.704 EUR • Coordinator:Geonardo Ltd. • Number or beneficiaries: 16 G E O T H E R M A L C O M M U N I T I E S

  3. OBJECTIVES • Pilot scale implementation of geothermal energy applications • Energy efficiency measures by means of retrofitting and optimalisation • Integration of geothermal resources with other RES, such as CHP and PV • developing and implementing an efficient monitoring system for the demonstration activities • appliedtechnological research on system integration, applications and optimalisation to help the demonstration activities of the project to be more efficient • detailed socio-economic research and studies for the public perception and to ease the preparation of similar future projects, • pro-active traininganddissemination activities • initiate and facilitate the networking of interested Communities by setting up Mayor’s Geothermal Club G E O T H E R M A L C O M M U N I T I E S

  10. COMMUNITIY PROGRESS G E O T H E R M A L C O M M U N I T I E S

  11. Research Partners’ Activities • MAGA - Presentation of the e-learning platform as well as the preliminary subjects prepared for the intended training • PAS-MEERI - Preliminary Questionnaire on “Public perception and understanding of RUE measures (pilot site case studies)”to obtain general background on local future beneficiaries’ attitude and state of knowledge on RES before the start of the investments. • SOFTECH - 27 case study buildings chosen to evaluate the relevance of technological measures proposed for the different kind of buildings in the village The analysis also to determinate the appropriate amount of funding to be given for each technological measure in different size of buildings. PV panels and solar connectors decided not to be applied on the buildings with historical value. G E O T H E R M A L C O M M U N I T I E S
