Possession Trance • Kulturell definiert als interpersoneller Akt: Possession im Kontext kommunaler Aktivität, mit Beobachtern des Verhaltens • Form, Praxis, Erfahrung und Bedeutung sind der Gemeinschaft wohlbekannt • PT kann selbstinduziert sein von einem Heiler oder als Possession erfahren werden oder Teil einer gemeinsamen religiösen Praxis • PT ist unique, aber nur normal im jeweiligen speziellen Kontext

Possession Behavior (Neurotic) • Involviert nicht notwendigerweise einen speziellen mode of consciousness, sondern eher ein Verhalten das von der Gemeinschaft unterschieden wird von unique zu pathologisch • Kulturell akzeptables Verhalten zur Konfliktlösung • Dient dem Symptom-ausdruck als auch der Symptom-Auflösung

  10. Possession Behavior (Psychotic) • Culture-bound reactive syndromes: amok, latah, koro, imu, witiko, pibloktoq and negi negi • Typisch ist stereotypes Verhalten das von der Gemeinschaft als pathologisch erkannt wird

  11. Possession Explanation • Als Erklärung von Unfällen, wirtschaftlichem Schaden, Traume, Epidemischen Krankheiten, Krankheit und persönliches Unglück
