  2. eLearning environment • Verkkosalkku is web based software, where human behaviour and functional processes are connected to each other.

  3. New application Features • multiple content types, such as text files, multimedia objects, Flash animation, Java applets etc. • multiple communication methods; discussion board, chat, email, IP-phone etc.

  4. New application Features • use metamodels, standards or own models • IMS, Scorm … and process based metadata • create and modify search models using metadata • create and modify graphically described learning processes and/or metaphors

  5. Learning processes and metaphors a teacher • plans several usefull learning processes • problem based learning • project based learning etc. • connects processes to the content and/or tools (e.g. discussion board) using metadata • designs a picture (metaphor) • connects the process to the picture

  6. Learning processes and metaphors a learner • chooses the learning process or method he/she likes • allows to control the learning process

  7. Conclusions and future development • The same content / tools should be made available to learners in many different pedagogical processes so students can choose the best way for their study. • We continue to develop systems and our Verkkosalkku platform, based on a variety of pedagogical methods.
