  3. The Facts • The search for Osama bin Laden began in late 2001 after the attacks on 9/11 • Over a 9 year search • The leader of terrorist organization known as Al Qaeda • Killed on May 2, 2011 in Abbottabad, Pakistan • Seal Team 6

  4. Facts cont. • U.S. funded Pakistan search for bin Laden • Pakistan said they could not find him • U.S.-Pakistan relations were already strained • U.S. not happy that bin Laden was found 800 yards from Pakistan’s largest military academy

  5. Operation Neptune Spear • Seal Team Six • Streamed to the President via head camera • President Obama in the White House Situation room

We ask God to offer him mercy with the true believers and martyrs.” • Ismail Haniyeh, Head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip • These people saw him as their leader • Most medias were glad he was dead, but feared retaliation • Some did not like U.S. tactics • Image used as rallying point-fake or not
