  2. What was the Russian Revolution? • When the Czar (King) of Russia was overthrown and Communists took power to create the Soviet Union.

  4. What happened in the RusRev? • Czar gives up his throne. • New government created that has many parties. • Civil war begins. • Communists win, start Soviet Union, which lasts until 1991. • Czar and family are executed by communists. Why?

  5. People in the country wanted land to live on—it was still basically feudalism. The people were sick of WWI and wanted Russia to end its involvement. What was the slogan of the RusRev? Land, Bread, Peace • The people were hungry and poor and wanted food to eat.

  6. Who was Lenin? • The leader of the Russian communists. • First leader of the Soviet Union. • Believed in Karl Marx’s teachings.
