Definitions TEACHER: one that teaches; especially : one whose occupation is to instruct ENTREPRENEUR: one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise

In the traditional model of education • Teachers instruct the students in a single classroom • Principals manage the school with some help from teacher-delegates • District administrators ensure compliance with district policy

Teachers spend part of their professional day • Researching instructional best practices and facilitating professional development, including action research, at their school. • Mentoring new teachers assigned a reduced workload until they are ready to teach full time. • Researching and writing curriculum and assessments for their school, district, or state.
Teachers spend part of their professional day • Convening colleagues from other schools and elected officials to discuss education policy. • Collaborating virtually with educators in other states and nations. • Writing and contributing to professional blogs and wikis. • Co-creating edugames and virtual worlds for students and colleagues.
What is a teacherpreneur? She combines and blends professional roles.She teaches in the morning then takes over from the morning-principal after lunch.
What is a teacherpreneur? • He is a researcher who works in middle schools in the afternoons so that he can teach university classes in the morning. • She might be writing the next great book on instructional strategies that work with at-risk students
What is a teacherpreneur? He is policy maker working Mondays through Wednesdays with his students, turning them over to his partner-teacher so that on Thursdays and Fridays he can be at the state capitol drafting educational policy.
