  5. Brave New Voices • Brave New Voices is an annual festival in its 15th year of existence. The festival showcases young, talented poets from across the world, spanning from San Francisco to Vancouver to Guam. This year over 50 teams of students ranging from ages 13-19 participated in several slam rounds with the hopes of reaching the four team final. However, it is important to note that BNV is not focused on scores or points but rather on uplifting the voices of today’s youth in order to create global change.

  6. What does this have to do with me? • Are you a creative writer whose voice deserves to be heard? • Are you a performer wanting to share original work on stage? • Do you have personal stories you are willing to share in the form of spoken word? • Are you passionate about social issues? • Are you inspired by spoken word artists like Joshua Bennett?

  7. Writing Workshop: “Movement 515” • If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, we need YOU and your VOICE! • Come to the creative writing workshop, “Movement 515,” every Thursday from 5:30-7:00 starting November 10. The workshop will take place in the library at Central Campus. • Questions? Contact Emily Lang (Emily.Lang@dmps.k12.ia.us) or Kristopher Rollins (Kristopher.Rollins@dmps.k12.ia.us)
