  1. Bell Ringer – 9/5 The tables are set up in groups – you may select your seat/group. Please do not move desks!! (We want to keep groups fairly even.) Seats are first come, first serve! • TABLET/Smart Phone • m.socrative.com – Room 38178 • NO TABLET (or not working) • There are Bell Ringers cards on the table in the fourth box. Take 1 and answer the question on there (make sure you put your name and date!) • Turn it in to the class box. • QUESTIONS: Fill in the blank (multiple choice on devices) • 1.   2. Project: Prop Creation! Time to do some acting!

  3. Task • There are various “props” in front of the room. Later, your group will pick one. • Come up with 10 ways your prop could be used in a scene. • When you present, you will be asked to act out how the prop is used – not tell the class how it could be used. The class will determine what your prop is being used as, based on your gestures and dialogue. • You will have all class period today and part of tomorrow to prepare your 10 ideas. • We will do the presentations the second part of class tomorrow.

  4. Grading This is a GROUP grade – every group member will receive the same grade, so hold your members accountable and make them participate! • You will be graded you on content, creativity, and group participation. • The class will vote on which group was the most creative – that group will receive 3% bonus points!! • Content: How many scenes did you perform? • 10 possible points • Creativity: How many unique and different ways did you use your prop? • 20 possible points • Effort: How much thought and time was put into the scenes? • 20 possible points • Participation: Does every group member participate equally in the presentation? • 20 possible points

  5. Prop Examples • “Props” is a common skit on the show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Here are two examples of this sketch.   6. Groups • Groups will be called on to pick a prop for their group • The props STAY IN THE ROOM at all times • Take care of them – they are my own personal property and used in 3 different class periods! • Spend class (today and part of tomorrow) planning out and practicing your scenes. Once you have 10 – don’t stop! See if you can come up with more creative ideas to replace some of your more obvious ones...
