  3. Program Overview: Program Overview: Hypoglycemia is the rate limiting step in managing diabetes intensively. Patients who experience treatment emergent hypoglycemia are at increased risk of cardiovascular death and all-cause mortality. Additionally, hypoglycemia can increase the risk of motor vehicle accidents while reducing adherence to prescribed pharmacologic therapy. Clinicians must assure that patients with cardiovascular disease and those with hypoglycemia unawareness are prescribed medications which lessen the risk of treatment emergent hypoglycemia. This activity will discuss the use of medications which might mitigate one’s risk of developing treatment emergent hypoglycemia.
