  1. Euro Week Bodnant Junior School May 23rd – May 26th 2011

  2. What is Euro Week? • Linking to our 2 year Comenius project. • 6 countries including Wales. • Each year group studied a country, through all areas of the curriculum. • Year 3 – Latvia, Year 4 – Madeira, Year 5- Greece, Year 6 – Sicily. • Previously had a Spanish day earlier in the year.

  3. Planning • Discussed our ideas with headmaster • Then discussed ideas in staff meeting • ESDGC audit of school was compiled. • Together after school and during service time. • First deciding on how to plan the week between us. • Then individually found resources for 2 countries each. • Meeting every Friday to discuss progress.

  4. Resources • Approached British Council and Euro Direct • Contacted Comenius Schools and asked for help. • Asked staff, pupils and families. • Folders of resources were provided for each year group along with internet links and powerpoint presentations on the school server.

  5. Whole School Approach • Consulted with school cook and a menu was created for school dinners. • European football tournament at lunch times with help from dinner ladies. • Eurovision song contest. • Contribute towards Eco Schools award and International Schools award

  6. Peer Coaching • Whole school activities in hall together • During our ppa sessions we went into each others lessons and participated in team teaching. • Feedback was given after school that day.

  7. Follow Up • Comenius meeting at our school in July • Plans for annual event • Continue building a resource bank for other countries. • Each plan to have a new partner to introduce peer coaching.
