  4. A Dystopian society (or Dystopia) • Antonym (means the opposite) of Utopia • People often lead fearful lives • Totalitarian dictatorship • (The government controls nearly every aspect of human life) • Technology replaces humanity • Justification for violence

  5. Dystopian societies • Are fictional and futuristic • They serve as a warning to readers or viewers • They make comments on our own society
