  2. What was life like in medieval towns?  Aims To investigate the living conditions of townspeople To find out about the different types of jobs on offer

  3.  Your task • Your teacher will give you some information about the different types of jobs on offer in towns. Match a job to a job description

  4.  Your task • Sometimes when people are looking for a new job they go to a careers fair. Imagine such things existed in the Middle Ages. A small group of you will be looking for jobs the rest of the class will be trying to encourage the job seekers to take on their jobs. However, the jobs are not as desirable as they first seem! The winning team is the one which is selected by the most job seekers.

  5.  Extension task • Create an advert for one of the jobs on offer at the careers fair, highlighting all the skills the successful applicant would have. • Write a letter of application for one of the jobs

  6.  Homework • Read about life in a medieval town and use the headings to create a spider diagram in your notes. Remember • Take out key facts, but don’t write in full sentences. • Use a full page in your exercise book • Give the table a heading, ‘Medieval Towns’

  7.  Plenary • Name 5 different jobs in medieval towns. • Which jobs would you take on and why?
