  1. First, I would like to thank Tamiya for giving me a happy childhood with my Tamiya kits. Even if I had to hide in my room (away from my Mother's knowledge) to build Tamiya kits! • Second, to complete my dream trip. • Lastly, to allow me to present IMPACT and our suggestions to increase Tamiya 1/16 RC tank market.

  2. 1. Simple Introduction to

  3. Started to tool up for 1/16 King Tiger (Early) tracks in Sept 2006. Failed 2 molds, the 3rd one was successful in Dec 2006 Started to sell to Singapore Tank Club members, Jan 2007. Started to sell on ebay for fun, Feb 2007. Feb 2007 had Dealers in Germany and USA. Registered IMPACT as a Company in Singapore in June 2007, also took up www.IMPACT- Upgrades.com domain.

  4. There are about 40 items in retail selling now. • Since Jan 2011, IMPACT had acquired 95% of Mitosal. • Mitosal is an online shop setup by our Tank Club member, selling IMPACT's parts, since April 2009.

  5. Shareholders of IMPACT • Liow Hang Siang – 48.5% • Lim Chih Chiang – 48.5%. He is the owner of Accuratus, www.accuratus.com.sg Accuratus is making high precision die bonder machines (粒黏膠機), which is accurate to 3um. • Huang Huan Rong – 3%. he is the owner of SETEC (翔勝，臺灣） SETEC is also a high precision equipment manufacturer They produced equipment to some Japanese semiconductor companies.

  6. IMPACT design Team is in Singapore. Production (plastic and die cast are in NingBo, China). • NingBo factory is doing consumer products, as can be see at www.TaiQ101.com. We just use the machines to produce hobby parts. • NingBo factory started in year 2000. • It is considered a small size factory (in China), with about 30 workers. • Factory size 3,000 sq. meter • Annual sales is about USD1.8kk, this is from our main business, excluding hobby parts.

  9. Electronics is also designed in Singapore. • Software Designer: 3 engineers Hardware Designer: 2 engineers • PCBA is fabricated, assembled and tested in Singapore.

  11. Known Tank Clubs in USA • Electronics is also design in Singapore. • Software Designer: 3 engineers Hardware Designer: 2 engineers • PCBA is fabricated, assembled and tested in Singapore. • Factory size 3,000 sq. meter

  12. AAF Tank Museum • Privately owned Tank Museum at: 3401 U.S. Highway 29B Danville, VA 24540 • The largest indoors battlefield of 6,000 sq foot • Most of the USA Club Members will here meet for IR battling competitions. • Mostly with Tamiya 1/16 tanks and some modified Heng Long tanks.

  13. There are many Customers bought Tamiya 1/16 tanks but have nowhere to do tank battle. Many had just built it and just displayed at home. • Sometime in 2005, small tank clubs started to organized tank battle games. But this does not help to promote or create the awareness of Tamiya 1/16 tanks. Tank clubs around the world make their own game rules. Without a set of standard rules, this will never help Tamiya 1/16 tanks to grow too.

  14. 3. Competitions or threat to Tamiya 1/16 RC Tanks market

  15. Other 1/16 RC Tank brands: a. Heng Long (made in China) formerly Marui 1/24 OEM factory. Making 1/16 RC tank (BB) in 2006 Making 1/16 RC tank (IR) in 2009 b. Mato (made in China) they are the NA Distributor of Heng Long Making 1/16 RC tank (BB) in end 2009

  16. c. Matorro (made in China) they claimed to be a Germany brand release and sell 1/16 RC tank (BB) in 2007 for King Tiger and Strumtiger

  17. Customers bought cheap tanks because a. prices of Tamiya's are too high in comparison. b. they do not understand the main differences. • After using cheap RC tanks, it broken down very easily. Therefore they tried to replace with Tamiya's DMD+MFU system. Or replace with some other cheap systems. • Some will choose to purchase Tamiya 1/16 tanks after they realize the differences. • But this will NOT help to increase Tamiya's 1/16 market share

  18. 4. Suggestions to increase Tamiya 1/16 RC Tanks market

  19. METHOD 1 IT IS TIME FOR TAMIYA TO TAKE CHARGE AND CREATE WORLDWIDE TANK BATTLE COMPETITION, ANNUALLY!!!!

  20. IR Tank Battle Competition Rules • To create 2 Categories: Basic and Advance. • Basic: a. tanks to have stock parts. b. same number of tanks on both sides. c. Others • Advance: a. allow to have modification, like metal tracks, stronger motors, better gearbox, etc b. battle in different number of tanks c. Others

Tank IR Battle Competitions will create the exact same effect as Tamiya RC Car competitions. • Tamiya 1/16 Tank and system will become a standard and mainstream. • This will motivate Customers with Tamiya tanks, but put in display, to come out. • Hop up accessories can be introduced. • All these help to create the awareness of Tamiya tanks quality and capabilities, hence influencing more to take part.

  22. METHOD 2 RELEASE MORE TANKS AND AFV ........AND ESPECIALLY 1/16 FIGURES

  23. New Tanks Release • Tamiya is famous for its quality and kits' accuracy. It should not create the same problems like the Panther and M51 Sherman. • To save cost, Tiger I (Late) and King Tiger (Porsche turret version) can be released. There are many Customers converting using current kits. • Or new tanks must have “wow” effect, else Customers feel that there is little difference to China toy tanks.

  24. 1/16 Kübelwagen I would suggest very strongly to re-release this kit. From ebay and EU Customers, it is still quite high in demand. The RC version was a failure because of the bad steering control design. Many Customers responded wanting very much to have a “RC suitable” kit. Meaning without radio controller, ESC, servo. Customers are more than happy to install by themselves.

  27. METHOD 3 • Many people are buying from ebay on Tamiya tank's DMD and MFU to install into cheap toys. • Tamiya may consider to control these items not be sold as separate items or to set at higher price. • Then, the only way to obtain the system, will be from buying the full option kit set.

  28. BUT THERE IS SOME INHERENT PROBLEMS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED FIRST!!!!

Since year 2000 of the Tiger I release, the electronic systems (DMD + MFU) have basically been the same and unchanged up to date. • With the current system, Tamiya will have a limitation of releasing light AFV, because it will be able to kill heavy tanks, which is unrealistic. Just like in a real battle, it is not possible for M4 Sherman to destroy a King Tiger. • If there is no improvement, Customers might get bored and competitors might produce a better system.

  30. 5. IMPACT Tank System

IMPACT System is based on Tamiya DMD + MFU IMP – IMPACT Motion Processor (like DMD) ACT – Advanced Combat Technologies (like MFU) • IMP function is same as DMD, but it will have an electronic clutch to give ½ motor power. This will be similar to 2nd clutch gear, so that the tank motion can be more easier control, especial during turning in battle. • When tank is destroyed: a. TBU will blink continuously, 8s not able to move b. 9th sec LED will light up (not blink), and will move but IR not function.

  32. c. Player will need to move tank to himself and reset the tank again or power OFF or just leave the tank until the battle is over.. • ZigBee is a wireless transceiver that has about 100m range, depending on environment conditions.
