HELP CETL Vision and Aims • The CETL will enable us to become the national exemplar of excellence in HE in FE provision • CETL funds will facilitate this, allowing us to: • invest heavily in developing HE in FE staff and teaching expertise • provide uniformly high quality student learning opportunities and infrastructure across the region • inspire teaching and learning communities to research their practices and to share & disseminate activities & learning materials within the region and beyond FDF national Conference 2005 - Foundation Degrees: Working in Practice

Communities of Practice [CoP] • Built on educational research and development • To meet the HELP CETL aims we need to communicate, share ideas, information and findings • We need to capture and share good practice • Communities are not a solution themselves but can be a very effective means to providing solutions FDF national Conference 2005 - Foundation Degrees: Working in Practice

HELP CETL CoP types • CoPs will come together in different ways at different times depending on their focus • Three key types of HELP CETL CoP are those based on : • UPC Subject Forums • generic or specific development activities • Fellowship or CPD activities • meta level collaboration or dissemination [including multi-CETL, multi-institutional work] FDF national Conference 2005 - Foundation Degrees: Working in Practice
