  3. Bear Dance Spring Time Utes return to the mountains to live Utes perform this dance for the bear. Strengthens the friendship ties between the Utes and the bears, promising that no troubles between the two will come about

  4. Sun Dance Originated from the Shoshoni’s Adopted by the Utes in 1890. Led by the medicine man (shaman) Community good health and well-being, brings comfort to those suffering, dispels ill will ghosts, and prepares them to become shamans as well.

  5. Story Telling/Ceremonies in general • Passed their History through stories • Way to tell the history of the tribe to their younger children and to explain why things happen • Written records were made by white settlers. • Believe there is magic to singing and dancing.
