Gene Kelly starred as Don Lockwood • Also Directed the film with Stanley Donen • Donald O’Connor stars as Cosmo • Debbie Reynolds stars as Kathy Selden • Don is an actor but started out as a stuntman. • Cosmo is a piano player and musician • Kathy Selden is a dancer whom then becomes an actress • Lena Lamont is Don’s acting partner in films. • A talkie is a film with sound.

When Kathy first meets Don she hates him. • She grows to love him. • Cosmo and Don grew up playing in bars together. • When trying to record the voices of Lena and Don, Lena has trouble talking into the microphone. • Gene Kelly also choreographed the dances in the film. • People were very dressed up when out in public during this time period.

The microphone was first placed in the bush to record the voices but ended up being placed on Lena’s costume. • The most famous song in the film is “Singin’ In The Rain”. • The dance was only known to Gene Kelly before shooting the scene. • The script was written after the songs were written. • Gene Kelly had a 103 degree temperature when dancing the title song. • Gene Kelly insulted Debbie Reynolds for not being able to dance.

To solve the problem with recording Lena’s voice, the producer decides to replace Lena’s voice with Kathy’s. • “The Dueling Cavalier” starts out as a romance but ends up as a musical. • R.F. is Don’s, Lena’s, and Comos’ boss. • The silent film stars had to go to elocution classes when transfering to talkies. • At the end of the film the audience discovers that Lena can’t really sing. • The theme of the film is “Think of others before yourself.
