  4. We must believe it. • Romans 10:9-10 • that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  5. Why Believe? • Eyewitnesses

  6. Eyewitnesses testified of the resurrection. • 6 Independent accounts (Gospels, Paul, Peter) • The NT is a collection of letters written and circulated within the lifetime of those who could have refuted the accounts. Cf. Acts 4:16; 26:24-26 • Acts 1:1-3, 1 Corinthians 15:5-8 • Acts 10:39-41, John 20:24-28

  7. Eyewitnesses • Paul had been a violent opponent of Jesus. Acts 8:1; 9:1-2; 22:4 • James, the Lord’s brother • John 7:5 “even His brothers did not believe in Him.” • Became a leader in the church at Jerusalem, Acts 15:13-21 • Wrote an epistle in the canon.

  10. The changed lives of the apostles. • The skeptic: “They believed a lie. Many have died for lies.” • They would have known it was a lie. Why would one knowingly die for a lie? • What did they have to gain? • Not money – Acts 3:6 • Not power – 5:40-41 • Not to be revered personally – Acts 3:12, 14:11-16

  13. Be saved today! • Believe – John 8:24, Romans 10:9-10 • Confess – Romans 10:10 • Repent – Luke 13:3 • Be Baptized – Mark 16:16 • Be Faithful – Hebrews 5:9, 3:12
