Cain and Abel • Cain was born—he tilled the ground 4:1-2 • Abel was born—he kept sheep 4:2 • Cain brought an offering of fruit of the ground to the Lord 4:3 • Abel brought the firstborn of his flock & its fat4:4 (by faith—Hebrews 11:4) • God respected Abel and his offering 4:4 • God did not respect Cain and his offering 4:5 • Cain was very angry 4:5 • God counseled Cain 4:6-7

Cain and Abel • Cain called Abel out to the field 4:8 • Cain killed Abel 4:8 • God asked Cain where Abel was 4:9 • Cain denied any responsibility4:9 • God explained what happened to Abel and what will happen to Cain because of Cain’s actions4:10- 12 • Ground swallowed Abel’s blood • Abel’s blood cries out to God • Cain can no longer work the ground

Cain and Abel • Worship and worshipper are tied together • If worship not accepted then worshipper is not Leviticus 10:1-3 • If worshipper not accepted then worship is not Numbers 16:16-19,35 • Hatred is as ungodly as murder 1 John 2:10-15 • Innocent blood pollutes the ground Num. 35:33 • Anger is not sin but is dangerous Eph. 5:26-27 • Sin is waiting at the door 1 Peter 5:8 • So is Jesus Rev. 3:20
