Historical Significance • Mass production of computers occurs • Salk polio vaccine used to save humans from poliomyelitis infection. • Fidel Castro comes to power in Cuba. • The “Iron Curtain” in Europe • The use of Pop Art, which would later be more focused by Andy Warhol in the 60’s. • Big Momma Thornton records the original versions of “Hound dog” and “ Ball and Chain”. Hound dog done later by Presley, Ball and Chain done by names such as Janis Joplin. • Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bobber die in a tragic plane crash in 1959. Later in 1971 Don Mclean writes “American Pie” in spire of the music legends.

  11. Alice in Wonderland In the year 1951, Walt Disney produced on of my favorite all time movies. Alice in wonderland. Based on the original writings of Lewis Carroll. It was always talked that this movie had “subliminal messages” referring to Alice’s consuming of drugs. Such scenarios go un-noticed.

  12. The Creepy Commercials The 1950’s had some of the creepiest commercials back then.

  13. After the 1950’s, you will have my personal favorite era: the 196o’s. :)
