Benefits of TOP • Drivers have since reported thousands of incidents posing public safety concerns • A few days after initial launch in Denver in 2011 • A taxicab driver witnessed a hit and run that killed a man. • The taxi driver was able to read the license plate number of the suspect’s car • This information led to a conviction.

  13. More TOP Success Stories On January 30, 2013, a driver for ABC Taxi, Tampa, Florida, notified emergency responders of a van that had run off the road and crashed into the woods. He rescued two women trapped in the upside down vehicle. In March 2013, a taxicab driver for Yellow Cab of Biloxi/Gulfport (Miss.) captured a fatal hit and run on his in-vehicle camera. The company turned a copy of the video over to the police to assist in their investigation.

More TOP Success Stories On March 27, 2013, the New York City Livery Roundtable announced that the TOP training program would be made available before the end of the year • to the 24,000 livery cab drivers in New York City • to the 8,000 NYC black car drivers. • “This program will result in an additional 64,000 eyes looking out for our neighborhoods and our residents, serving as a force multiplier for public safety agencies at zero cost to taxpayers,” said LRT founding board member TarekMallah.
