  2. Eminem Marshall Bruce Mather lll Known by his primary stage name Eminem or his alter ego Slimshady is an Academy award and Grammy award winning rapper, record producer and actor. "Cleanin' Out My Closet" is a song by Eminem released in 2002. It was from his worldwide hit album, The Eminem Show.

  3. About the Song Single by Eminem from the album The Eminem Show Released: September 17th, 2002. Genre: Hip Hop, Horrorcore. Lyrics: Eminem, Jeff Bass Singer: Eminem Producer: Eminem and Jeff Bass

  4. Lyrical content In this song he takes the observers on a solemn journey into a deeply personal reservoir of fury and pain. He introspectively examines his life reflecting on such topics as his troubled childhood, marital conflicts, and resentful feud with his mother. Also in the song, he describes how others protest to his lyrics.

  5. Childhood This song shows that he didn’t have a happy childhood. He says he was treated badly by his pill-popping, always angry mother who resented him. Eminem underscores his animosity towards her by chanting a hauntingly sarcastic apology in the chorus, claiming "I never meant to hurt you". He expresses the anger that he feels towards his family and how he is better off without them now, and goes on to reassure his audience that his words regarding his mother are not done for the sake of public attention ("now I would never diss my own mama just to get recognition"). "Cleaning out my closet", he was regarding to taking out his anger.

  6. Family life “I look at Hailie and I couldn't picture leavin' her side, even if I hated Kim, I grit my teeth and I'd try, to make it work with her at least for Haley’s sake” He talks about how his father left him and that even though he hates his wife Kim, he would stick it out for the sake of his daughter. He admits that he had made mistakes in his life but would take responsibility for his actions now.

  7. Language “Have you ever been hated or discriminated against, I have, i've been protested and demonstrated against, picket signs for my wicked rhymes” He also descibes how his songs have been protested against for the kind of language used. It is raw and straight from the heart. It shocks and hence gets across its message.

  8. Confessional tone “I got some skeletons in my closet and I don't know if no one knows it, so before they thrown me inside my coffin and close it, i'ma expose it” “Mama...never meant to make you cry”-This ties in with the dark themes within ‘Cleanin' Out My Closet’.

  9. Chronological order Doesn’t follow it in order He goes from how he is protested against, then how he handles his family life and in the end how much he hates his mother. MEMOIR???

  10. Visual Content It is dark and gritty. Shows him confessing in the church. Talks about how he is dead to his mother and shows him digging a grave.
