VT Center for Digital Research and Scholarship Vision University Libraries is an integral component of Virginia Tech’s scholarly research lifecycle • serving as an institutional referral, production, stewardship and preservation hub • connecting members of the VT community • with a shared goal of promoting excellence in research Mission VT Libraries' Center for Digital Research and Scholarship strives to facilitate excellence in digital research -- The center is built on three core themes: • partnerships • technology • services We partner with individual faculty, research labs, centers, and institutes to: • solve academic-based problems through applied research in information science • offer campus-wide curation, collaboration, and consulting services that support the lifecycle of digital data and scholarship at Virginia Tech

Center for Digital Research and Scholarship • Long-term Goals • Support all aspects of research augmented by information technologies, at any scale regardless of domain • Curate the products of research and scholarship and assist researchers in producing new knowledge products • Enable researchers to make rapid progress in their research • Raise awareness of the value of open access and digital curation • Establish Virginia Tech as the premier institution for eResearch infrastructure

Center for Digital Research and Scholarship • Short-term Goals • Offer faculty and students comprehensive digital research programs: • strengthen their understanding of evolving eResearch, or research environment, issues; • augment their digital research skills with new knowledge of digital curation processes; • enable new discoveries and creative problem-solving • Build and partner to design sustainable infrastructures that: • support research thrusts at Virginia Tech • connect and enhance discovery of digital research and scholarship across disciplines
