  2. God is so Good!

  3. The goodness and severity of God: • (Rom 11:22 NKJV) “Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.

  4. You have cancer! • My sister, Lila Lloyd, has been diagnosed with cancer in her sinus cavities. The tumor is said to be the size of a man's fist. With this news on her mind, she got up in the night and began to write.  This is what she said: (She recorded a brief history of life from the time she met her husband David until she was told of her cancer. Now, I’ll share here conclusion.

  5. Notes in the night: • Now it is May of 2009.  My lymph gland has been swollen for about a month and a half, The inside of my mouth is swollen, my eyes, ears, nose and mouth are all swollen. I have just been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer.  It was a shock, but I know that God is in control and all will work out.  We have been totally overwhelmed by the love, prayers and kind words that so many people have shown to us.

  6. Notes in the night: • We have even received wonderful gifts.   God is in control and cares.  We now have medicare to help pay the bills.  School is just out, so I am not losing sub pay and Mike and Erin are out of school and so helpful with everything.  David has done a wonderful job helping me.  Thank you God for being so good and caring for us. • Lila Lloyd                    May 31, 2009

  7. All is not sweetness & Light • (Acts 9:10-16 NKJV) Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord." {11} So the Lord said to him, "Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying.

  8. Saul is trouble, Lord • (Acts 9:10-16 NKJV) {12} "And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight." {13} Then Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. {14} "And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name."

  9. "Go, for he is a chosen vessel!” • (Acts 9:10-16 NKJV) {15} But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. {16} "For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."

  10. Paul was thankful to God! • (1 Tim 1:12-16 NKJV) And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, {13} although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. {14} And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

  11. Paul was thankful to God! • (1 Tim 1:12-16 NKJV) {15} This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.{16} However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

  12. God’s goodness had a price to pay • (Acts 9:10-16 NKJV) "For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."

  13. Paul’s Summary of his “Deal” • (Rom 8:18 NKJV) For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

  14. Better things are coming • (Rom 8:19-22 NKJV) For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. {20} For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;

  15. Even creation is waiting • (Rom 8:19-22 NKJV) {21} because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. {22} For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

  16. Our Day is coming • (Rom 8:23-27 NKJV) Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. {24} For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? {25} But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

  17. Our Day is coming • (Rom 8:23-27 NKJV) {26} Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. {27} Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

  18. If God is for us . . . • (Rom 8:31-34 NKJV) What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?{32} He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? {33} Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. {34} Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

  19. Who can be against us? • (Rom 8:35-39 NKJV) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? {36} As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."{37} Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

  20. Many have paid for their faith • (Heb 11:35-40 NKJV) Women received their dead raised to life again. And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. {36} Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.

  21. Many have paid for their faith • (Heb 11:35-40 NKJV) {37} They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented; {38} of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.

  22. Many have paid for their faith • (Heb 11:35-40 NKJV) {39} And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, {40} God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

  23. What about the severity of God? • (Rom 11:22 NKJV) “Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.

  24. He’s coming back in flaming fire • (2 Th 1:7-8 NKJV) and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, {8} in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  25. . The patience of God’s people • (2 Th 1:3-9 NKJV) We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, {4} so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,

  26. Punishment for the wicked • (2 Th 1:3-9 NKJV) {5} which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; {6} since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, {7} and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,

  27. Punishment for the wicked • (2 Th 1:3-9 NKJV) {8} in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. {9} These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

  28. Conclusion • Our God is a great, good, gracious God. • Will we serve Him? • Will we experience His goodness, or his wrath?
